Rusty Hicks is a 1975 Graduate from Baylor University and is a Co-Founder of Combat Marine Outdoors. In 2010, he retired from 26 years of Officiating Men’s College Basketball for six NCAA Division I Conferences, 3 N.A.I.A. and 2 NCAA D2 Conferences. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Combat Marine Outdoors. On December 3rd, 2015, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Joseph Dunford bestowed the title of “Honorary Marine” on Rusty. This award was presented to him in a ceremony at 4th RECON in San Antonio, Major General Juan Ayala presiding. Mr. Hicks is a 2014 Graduate of the Inaugural DEA Citizen’s Academy, a 24 year veteran Football Referee in the Houston Area and has been the Featured Speaker at the Marine Corps Ball in Houston and Brazosport College Commencement Ceremony in 2012. On March 7, 2014, Rusty was awarded the rank of Honorary Colonel in the Army 75th Training Command by Maj Gen Jimmie Jaye Wells and Lt Gen James Talley. He is also the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Karl Young College Baseball where he is a member of the Hall of Fame. Rusty recently retired from 39 years with Harvey-Daco to dedicate his full attention to CMO. Mr. Hicks is a pilot, avid hunter, saltwater fisherman and dedicated to helping our wounded Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen. He and wife Martha have been married for 35 years and have recently moved to Waco, Texas. They have three children… Ray (2006 graduate of Univ. of Houston), Ryan (2009 Graduate of Texas A&M-Galveston) and Jennifer (2011 Graduate of Texas Tech) and four Grandchildren.
